Do you want to change the dashboard logo in WordPress? You don’t necessarily have to change the dashboard logo, but, it’s always a good idea to go for a little change. So, in this article, we will be showing you how you can easily change the dashboard logo in WordPress and add your own custom logo for branding.
Many WordPressers often replace the WordPress dashboard logo with their own custom dashboard logo for branding purposes. Here are two methods you can try to change the dashboard logo in WordPress.
Change the Dashboard Logo in WordPress Using a Plugin
We will start with the easier method, i.e. via WordPress plugin. This method is easy and recommended for all the WordPress users (including the WordPress beginners) who are willing to change the dashboard logo in WordPress and add their own custom dashboard logo.
First of all, install and activate the WordPress plugin, White Label CMS. The plugin is for those who want to give their clients a more personalized and less confusing content management system. The plugin will also allow you to add custom logos to the header and footer, as well as the dashboard logo.
After activating the plugin, head over to Settings > White label CMS page and click on the Branding tab for customization option.
Here, you will have to click on the “Yes” button in the Hide WordPress Logos option.
Just below the option, you will be able to see the option called Add Your Logo. This is where you have to upload your custom dashboard logo. The custom dashboard logo should exactly be 16 x 16 pixels in dimensions.
After you upload your custom dashboard logo, don’t forget to click on the Save Changes button to store your changes.
You can now visit your WordPress dashboard to see the plugin in action.
Change the Dashboard Logo in WordPress Manually
The second method requires you to be familiar with coding in WordPress.
First, you will have to save your custom logo as a custom-logo.png file on your desktop. Make sure your custom dashboard logo is exactly 16 x 16 pixels in dimensions. Then, upload your file to /wp-content/themes/your-theme/images folder using FTP. And if your theme doesn’t contain an images folder, then, you need to create one.
After you’re done with uploading the custom dashboard logo, copy the following code to your theme’s functions.php file.
function wpb_custom_logo() { echo ' <style type="text/css"> #wpadminbar #wp-admin-bar-wp-logo > .ab-item .ab-icon:before { background-image: url(' . get_bloginfo('stylesheet_directory') . '/images/custom-logo.png) !important; background-position: 0 0; color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); } #wpadminbar #wp-admin-bar-wp-logo.hover > .ab-item .ab-icon { background-position: 0 0; } </style> '; } //hook into the administrative header output add_action('wp_before_admin_bar_render', 'wpb_custom_logo');
The above code will add CSS required to display your custom dashboard logo in the WordPress admin area.
Visit your dashboard area to see your new custom dashboard logo!
And that’s all there is. We hope this article helped you change the dashboard logo in WordPress. You can use any of the above methods and add your custom WordPress dashboard logo for branding.
