As mentioned earlier, WordPress comes with an inbuilt gallery feature that lets you create an image gallery without any difficulties. This feature is very basic and does not include that many options. However, it sure gets the job done if you want a simple image gallery.

  • For Classic Editor

First, you need to edit the post or page you want to add the image gallery. On the post edit screen, click on the Add Media button to upload the images.

This will bring up the regular WordPress media uploader. Click on the Select Files button to upload your photos. You can also select images that are already in the media library.

After you are done uploading your images, click the Create Gallery from the left column.

Now, click on the “Create a New Gallery” button on the bottom right.

The media uploader will now show your selected images with gallery settings. You can also add captions to each of your images in your gallery.

You can even choose how you want your images to be linked, the number of columns and image size to use in the gallery.

Click on the Insert Gallery button after you’re finished with all the edits.

This will close the media uploader popup and you will be able to see your image gallery in the post editor. You can now either preview or publish the post/page to see your gallery in action.

  • For New Gutenberg Block Editor

Adding an image gallery in the new Gutenberg Block Editor is slightly different than Classic Editor but it is very easy and quick. The new block editor is now enabled by default. First, you need to go to your post block editor and click the + icon to add an image gallery.

Click on the Gallery block and it will provide you an option to upload your gallery images.
