Jetpack 5.3 Released with Major Improvements

Jetpack 5.3 brings major improvements

The new version of Jetpack, Jetpack 5.3 was released on Tuesday and brought some major improvements along with it. The previous version of Jetpack, Jetpack 5.2 was released on the first week of August with a major improvement to the contact form module. This time, Jetpack 5.3 has included support for PHP 7.1, greater control over the placements of your ads, and enhancements in the visual editor.

Now, let’s have a closer look at the major improvements in Jetpack 5.3.

The newest version of Jetpack has introduced compatibility for PHP 7.1. The Jetpack team had been working on this since January 2017 after they received multiple reports of failures with PHP 7.1 when opcache was enabled. This interfered with XML-RPC requests and some users reported issues managing their websites from WordPress.com and connecting to third-party apps. However, with Jetpack 5.3, you will no longer have any issues when managing your Jetpack site from WordPress.com

Another great improvement in Jetpack 5.3 is the integration with WordAds, WordPress.com’s advertising program. Now you get to choose where and how you want to display your ads.  Jetpack Premium and Professional customers will now have more control over the placement of the ads on their site. The Jetpack team has added new options to control how and where ads appear. The release has also added the ability for publishers to display multiple ads and introduced more control options for where they can be placed.

Jetpack 5.3 has also introduced improvements to the visual editor. When managing your Jetpack site from WordPress.com (and using the visual editor), you will now have the option to preview it without leaving WordPress.com.

The Jetpack team has also updated the WordPress.com Toolbar to include a link to your comments in the My Sites menu.
