The lead organizer this year was Mr. Utsav Singh Rathour, one of the most inspiring and influential community member in Nepal. Utsav is the co-founder of Code Pixelz Media. Also, he along with his team sell WordPress themes at Code Themes and Yudlee Themes. He is currently working on a WordPress outsourcing platform—WP Army. He is a very active WordCamp organizer in Nepal and also has spoken in many WordCamp events in the town. He has been working in the Information Technology field for quite a long time now. He started using WordPress in the year 2007, but he initiated his journey in WordPress as a WordPress developer later in 2009. He started off his career as an Art Director back in 2007 and ever since then, he has been on the WordPress platform.
While at WordCamp Kathmandu, we had the opportunity to interview this wonderful personality and for your convenience, we have recorded the whole interview. Getting inspiration from his own words would definitely help a lot of people to get enthused.
In the interview below, Rathour shares a little about his experience as a Lead Organizer, what he was expecting, his challenges, and more. While asked about the challenges he faced as a lead organizer, Rathour said, “The most challenging yet exciting part about being a lead organizer is getting people together. A WordCamp isn’t something that I can do by myself or any lead organizer could do by themselves. It takes a team and you have to get the team going and on to it. One must know how to get the most out of people. Not only for WordCamps, but it’s also a challenging part for events of all kinds.”
He also shared that he would love to see more people joining the community. He shared, “I have always been very vocal about being a part of the community since the early stage. If I have to talk about myself, I run a WordPress company that I formed because I came to the community. I met people at the community and that is how I formed my company. I’ve always given credits to the community for my company.” “I think people can make a lot out of it (the community). They can learn a lot of new things and also about WordPress that has been ruling the CMS market,” he added.
It was a very informative and interesting interview with Mr. Utsav Singh Rathour, the lead organizer of WCKTM2019 and one of the strongest personalities in the WordPress community of Nepal.
