If you use the Underline and Justify options in your posts on WordPress often, chances are you’ve been looking for them these days. They were removed from the post editor in WordPress 4.7. But worry not, we have a way to bring them back. Here’s how you can add Underline and Justify buttons again to your WordPress editor.
Add Underline and Justify Buttons Using Plugins
Since the feature has already been removed from WordPress 4.7, you’ll need to install some plugins for this.
1. Using Re-add Text Underline and Justify Plugin
Install and activate the Re-add Text Underline and Justify plugin. If you’re new to installing plugins, you may want to check out these guides on how to install a plugin.
After the plugin is activated, go to Settings » Writing to configure the plugin.
The plugin gives you two options. You can select Re-add underline & justify buttons and the buttons will appear in the second row of the text editor. Or you can select re-add buttons and rearrange. It will add the underline and justify text buttons to the same position they were in before WordPress 4.7.
Save your settings and you can now go to Posts > Add New. You’ll find that the plugin has helped you add Underline and Justify buttons to your WordPress editor.
2. Using TinyMCE Advanced Plugin
Using TinyMCE Advanced plugin, you can do a lot more than just adding the underline and justify text buttons. You can add custom styles, add missing buttons, and even create your own buttons.
Firstly, install and activate the TinyMCE Advanced Plugin. For more details, check out these guides on how to install a plugin.
After you activate the plugin, go to Settings » TinyMCE Advanced to configure the plugin.
The settings will show you a preview of the editor screen. Below, you can see a table of Unused Buttons. All you need to do is, drag the Underline and Justify buttons to the post editor.
Save your changes. Now go to Posts > Add New. You’ll notice that the default WordPress Editor is replaced by the TinyMCE Advanced Editor.
