Due to the sudden changes brought by Instagram to their API on 4th April 2018, the Instagram plugins were affected acutely. One of the drastic changes was the deletion of the ability to display user feeds from other public Instagram account. Therefore, you will have to display your own Instagram account or the account that you have access token of on your website.

For this tutorial, we will be using the Catch Instagram Feed Gallery & Widget Pro plugin.

The plugin is an excellent solution if you’re trying to display Instagram feed on your WordPress site sophisticatedly. You can display the Instagram feed from any Instagram account by providing the Access Token.

The plugin also comes in a free version, however, it lacks a few crucial features. That’s why we will be using the premium plugin that comes with an array of features to display your Instagram feed in an elegant manner.

After installing and activating the Catch Instagram Feed Gallery & Widget Pro plugin, head over to the Catch Instagram Feed Gallery Widget Pro section from your dashboard. After that, click the Access Token and login to your Instagram account.

You can display the Instagram feed on your WordPress site either by using widget via Instagram Widget or by using the shortcode in page/post. We will be trying out both of the methods.

First, let’s try out the widgets option. Click on the ‘Go to Widgets’ tab for further configuration.

Then, drag and drop the ‘Catch Instagram Feed Gallery” widget to the area where you want your Insta feed to be displayed.

Here, you get to configure a bunch of features like the Title, Show Feed either by Username or Tags, layout type (Default, Grid, Masonry, or Round), Number of Photos (Max. 30), Image Size, and many others. You can choose to ‘Turn on the link to post on image’, ‘Show like and comment counts’, and also ‘Enable the Lightbox feature’. Customize the Instagram widget your way!

And once you’re done with the customization of the widget, you can visit your website to see the plugin in action. Your Instagram feed will be displayed neatly on your website.

And now, let’s move on to the second method—using the shortcode in posts and pages. You can either display the Instagram feed in new page/post or add in an existing page/post.

I am going to add my Instagram feed in a new page named ‘My Instagram’. After naming the page, click on the tiny Instagram logo displayed on the visual editor, next to the Add Media button.

This will bring out a popup to configure the plugin.

The configuration options are the same as in the widget section. Click on the ‘Insert Shortcode’ button once you’re finished.

This will then add the shortcode in the editor for you. Now, all you have to do is hit the Publish button and your Instagram feed shall be displayed elegantly on your website.
