WordPress 4.6 Release Candidate 2 is Now Available for Download

Yesterday, WordPress 4.6 Release Candidate 2 was made available for download.

Usually, there only used to be one Release Candidate put forward before the full release. However,  but with millions of users and thousands of plugins and themes, there’s always a chance of getting something missed. That is why the WordPress 4.6 Release Candidate 2 is here. There have been over 30 changes made from the first Release Candidate including the following notable changes:

  • Support for custom HTTP methods and proxy authentication has been restored.
  • Various fixes for the streamlined updates, including better failure messages and error handling, basic back-compat styling for custom update notifications, and additional and standardized JavaScript events.
  • Unnecessary reference parameters have been removed from new multisite functions.
  • A compatibility issue with PHP 7.0.9 (and PHP 7.1) has been fixed.

The development team will finalize the WordPress 4.6 after the WordPress 4.6 Release Candidate 2. So, if you are yet to use WordPress 4.6, it is high time you do so. They are asking for help from everybody who is willing to join so that the next version of WordPress is flawless.

If you suspect of having found any bugs please report it to the Alpha/Beta support forum. Should known issues be identified, you can find them here. They are also asking Developers to test their plugins and themes against WordPress 4.6 and update their Tested up to version in the readme to 4.6. You can also report any compatibility issues to the support forums.
