WordPress 5.6.2 Maintenance Release is now available for download. Let’s start updating!
WordPress released WordPress 5.6.2 maintenance release yesterday on February 22, 2021. The release is for all the previous versions of WordPress. Therefore, we recommend you have this update first tested and then applied to your WordPress site without any delay.
This small Maintenance release includes 5 bug fixes and it focuses on fixing user-facing issues that were discovered in WordPress 5.6.1.
You can either directly download v5.6.2 or venture over to Dashboard > Updates and simply click “Update Now”. Check out some of the easiest ways to update WordPress. Websites that support automatic background updates are already beginning to update to v5.6.2.
According to the official announcement post, the WP5.6.2 Maintenance release is a short-cycle release and the next major release is going to be WordPress 5.7, which will be released on March 9, 2021.
The 5.6.2 release was led by @desrosj. Also, @isabel_brison and @talldanwp helped in the block editor related fixes, and @audrasjb and @sergeybiryukov helped in other release related tasks.
