For Episode 8 of WordCamp Europe 2019 Interview Series, DevotePress presents Ronnie Burt. He is the Chief Business Officer at Incsub, the company behind WPMU DEV, CampusPress, and Edublogs. He is a former educator, a math nerd, and a wannabe musician.

At WordCamp Europe 2019, Ronnie talked on Democratizing Education. He explained why data ownership and portability is so critical, what plugin developers and site owners should be aware of, and how WordPress could and should play an integral role in the future of education as WordPress also plays a vital role in schools and universities.

In this interview, Ronnie talks about his WordPress journey, how he went from being a math teacher to being a part of Incsub Company, his talk at WordCamp Europe 2019, how his team helps non-profit organizations, how even kids could make use of WordPress, and more.

Ronnie’s talk at WCEU2019 focused on three areas that the WordPress community could do better in—data privacy, data exportability, and accessibility.

Regarding the future of WordPress, Ronnie says, “From five years from now, WordPress would just be doing better at how Gutenberg helps in refreshing the content creation.”
