Jetpack 8.5 was released yesterday and it has introduced some cool features and refinements. The update includes a new Podcast block, enhanced Search feature, Block improvements, improved AMP, and more.

New Podcast Block

Podcasts are gaining more popularity each day and now with Jetpack, you can add and display them on your site with ease. Jetpack 8.5 introduced a new Podcast block. You can share your favorite podcast or even promote your own with the new Podcast player block. The block allows your visitors to browse and play episodes directly on your site. There are a bunch of customization options in this block so you can add a touch of your uniqueness to your podcast player.

Enhanced Search Feature

Jetpack 8.5 includes several enhancements in the recently launched Search feature like:

  • Added a custom filter so you can exclude content from search results
  • Fixed a bug to improve performance of search in 28 non-English languages
  • Increased the maximum number of comments the team index per post from 100 to 200 to improve search results. 99.98% of all posts will now have all comments indexed, making 99.55% of all sites fully indexed.
  • Improved the onboarding flow

Block Improvements

The new update adds improvements to other blocks as well. For instance:

  • More options to the Revue block. You can now customize the look of the subscription fields to fit your needs.
  • Fixed layout issues with the Slideshow, OpenTable, and email subscription blocks.

Improved AMP compatibility

Jetpack 8.5 makes more Jetpack widgets and embed tools fully compatible with the AMP plugin.
