An Exclusive Interview with Rakesh Lawaju – WCKTM2019 Speakers

Rakesh Lawaju Interview

Rakesh Lawaju is a web developer, trainer and an entrepreneur based in Nepal who has been in the web field since 2008. He is the Co-Founder/ CTO of WEN Solutions, a company primarily develops WordPress plugins and gives WordPress related support. He is also the project lead for WP Travel, a WordPress trip, and travel management plugin. He has developed multiple WordPress plugins, contributed to open-source projects and is collaborating with Graph Paper Press for its plugin and theme development.

He was one of the amazing speakers at WordCamp Kathmandu 2019. He conducted a workshop on integrating React with WordPress and its API. It covered basics on getting started and exploring WordPress API and React.

During this interview, we got to know about his WP journey, his views and opinions regarding certain things in WordPress and the possibilities of React in WordPress.

When asked about his topic, Rakesh said, “WordPress is slowly moving towards React. And in this scenario, we need to know about React and how we can implement it in WordPress.” Besides that, his workshop also showed how one can use WordPress API and benefit from it. His workshop was beneficial for WordPress developers and those who want to move towards or learn ‘React’.

He also highlighted his thoughts on the Gutenberg implementation in WordPress. “Gutenberg is still in its early phase and it is progressing remarkably. I personally think it has a great scope for blogging platforms. However, when it comes to client projects, I think it still needs to be more powerful and feature-rich. Comparing to its competitors like Elementor, Gutenberg needs to level up and be more power-packed with features. If the development process continues, the Gutenberg project can be one of the best things ever happened to WordPress.”

DevotePress would like to thank Rakesh Lawaju for taking out time and sitting with us for this informative interview.
