The WordPress Theme Review Team launched a Trusted Authors Program on 30th April 2018 in order to lower the burden on reviewers/leads. The program was aimed at streamlining the review process for authors who are consistently able to show that they follow the WordPress theme review guidelines and have three or fewer issues in multiple areas. The submitted applications and approvals would be handled only by the team leads.
To apply on this Trusted Authors Program, you need to select the ticket that you want the Theme Review team to take into consideration—it can either be your latest approved theme or ticket in the new or final queue. Once you’ve selected the ticket, submit it as a comment on the announcement post. The leads will thereafter make sure to take a note and contact you if your application is accepted or not.
Your ticket must include the following features:
- Escaping/Sanitization – maximum of 3 issues.
- Licensing – maximum of 3 issues and you need to be 100% GPL, all your products, either on your website or 3rd party sites.
- Content creation – none spotted, this also includes correct use of demo content.
- Malicious or egregious stuff – no PHP/JS or any types of errors, no plugin territory functionality. Correct use of prefixing, enqueue, translations, advertising.
There are a few other things you need to know as an author. Also, there will be consequences for not following the rules; you can learn all about it here in detail.
You can contact any of the team leads on Slack, if you have any queries or confusion regarding the recently launched Trusted Authors Program.
