WCUS2023 is Announcing Speakers – Round 1. So, here is the list.
WordCamp US 2023 is taking place this year on 24-26 August 2023. The event is happening at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. And the team is really excited to welcome the first round of WordCamp US speakers. This is the first in a series of daily announcements sharing a different group of talented speakers.
The event is nearing and with that, the preparations are at their peak. There are so many things to take care of in order to deliver a grand event. Likewise, Speakers are the core part of the WordCamp. They are one of the reasons why many people enjoy attending WordCamp. The WCUS2023 team has announced the first round of WCUS2023 confirmed speakers, who are going to deliver ‘Development Talks’.
So, without any further ado, join us in welcoming first-round speakers at WordCamp US 2023 in Maryland.

David Dashifen Kees
By day, David Dashifen Kees (they/them) is a mild-mannered software developer working on Georgetown University’s web services team. By night, they’re essentially the same thing, except asleep. Dash has degrees in computer science, education, and divinity that they leverage to treat their technical career as something more like a service opportunity, an outlook that has served them well in their 20+ year career at various universities.
Femi Lewis
Femi Lewis is a New York City-based writer specializing in entrepreneurship. As the founder of the content marketing firm, Femi Writes, she provides content coaching and strategy sessions to small business owners. Her work has appeared on digital platforms such as The Balance, The Balance Small Business, Quizlet, and Finurah and in media outlets such as Black Enterprise, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and Kansas City Star.
Jefferey Paul
Director of Open Source at 10up. WordPress 4.7 release deputy, 4.8 release lead, 4.9 release lead, 5.8 release coordinator, and 6.1 release core tech lead.
Jo Minney
Jo Minney is a small business founder and technical communicator based (for now) in Perth, Western Australia. She is passionate about user experience, data-driven decision making, cats and travel – not necessarily in that order. She’s also an avid maker, from 3D printing to sewing to woodworking, and loves combining technology and creativity to make cool stuff and encouraging others to do the same.
Michelle Schulp Hunt
Michelle is an independent UX designer and frontend developer in Minneapolis. She studied Visual Communications, Psychology and Sociology, branching into front-end development and user experience design as her career progressed. This combination of disciplines led her to adopt a strategy-based approach to design and development, focused on solving tangible problems and achieving real goals based on how people think.
Shambi Broome
Shambi Broome is a web developer and digital platform manager. In 2004, after almost 10 years in retail sales, she opened JMB Designs, LLC, a digital platform management company specializing in web development and Internet marketing. A mother of 2 girls, Shambi recognized there is a need for girls to have a classroom environment where they can feel comfortable learning about technology and collaborating with their peers.
