WordPress 5.0.2 is now available for the general public to test as a Maintenance Release. The WordPress 5.0.2 Maintenance Release was issued by WordPress yesterday and it carries several updates and refinements. The Maintenance Release package can be downloaded directly or updated from within your dashboard.
The WordPress 5.0.2 update is for all the previous versions of WordPress. It is, thus, mandatory that you update your WordPress websites right away.
This maintenance release has addressed the total number of 73 bugs and the main focus was directed towards performance improvements in the block editor: the cumulated performance gains make it 330% faster for a post with 200 blocks.
As mentioned earlier, WordPress 5.0.2 addresses 73 bugs. Here are some of the highlights in this release:
- Included 45 Block Editor Improvements (14 performance enhancements and 31 bug fixes)
- Fixed 17 Block Editor related bugs across all of the bundled themes
- Fixed internationalization (i18n) issues related to script loading
