WordPress 5.5.1 Release Candidate 2, a second quick update for WordPress 5.5.1 is here. This quick update includes seven crucial patches.
So far, WordPress 5.5 has been downloaded more than 10 million times since its release on August 11, 2020. Users can try this release candidate. You can report any issues to ensure that WordPress 5.5.1 fixes the reported issues.
In order to test v5.5.1 RC 2, you can use the WordPress Beta Tester plugin (you’ll want to select the “point release nightlies” option) or you can also directly download the release candidate here (zip).
WordPress 5.5.1 Release Candidate 2 Fixed following issues:
- #51184: get_the_date() checks $format only for empty variable and fails on false boolean
- #51182: Theme_Installer_skin::do_overwrite does not work on a Windows server
- #38009: #reply-title.comment-reply-title not updating when replying to an individual

- #50848: Clarify the usage of null for auto_update_{$type} filter

- #51154: sitemaps should be initialized before each test is run
