Jetpack 6.6 has been released and now is available for download. The new version was released yesterday, on 9th October 2018. The update has brought some interesting changes along with it.
This release has brought two interesting features that aim at making your website extra attractive to readers and search engines. Also, as usual, the update has numerous bug fixes and enhancements. The two highlights of the update are better site verification tools and a new beta feature, Asset CDN.
The Site Verification tools include one-click verification and sitemap.xml registration with Google. With the Jetpack 6.6 update, it is simpler than ever to add your site to Google Search Console right from the Jetpack dashboard. Moreover to this specific update, once you add your site, you will be provided with tips and notification from Google to boost your site’s visibility on search engines.
Jetpack 6.6 has also included a new beta feature—Asset CDN. It actually is a site acceleration service. It reduces the content loading time for your visitors, giving a better user experience. Activate the Asset CDN feature on the full module list page and your content will surely load faster than usual.
Note that the asset CDN feature is still in its beta phase, so give it a try and drop your feedback.
With the interesting features and updates, Jetpack 6.6 has however introduced a bug with social icons. The Jetpack team will be releasing Jetpack 6.6.1 soon to address the issue. In the meantime, users can head towards Appearance> Customize> Additional CSS and add this CSS to provide a temporary fix.
