The new version, Jetpack 6.8 has been released and now is available for download. Jetpack 6.8 was released yesterday, on November 27, 2018. The new version has brought several changes along with it.
It has introduced the first set of Jetpack blocks built specifically for the new WordPress editor – the Gutenberg Editor. The newly introduced Jetpack blocks include blocks for payment buttons, forms, maps, and markdown. You can find these new blocks in the new editor’s bock picker under the Jetpack category.
Also, Jetpack 6.8 has brought back the Publicize feature to connect your WordPress site to your social networks.
Let’s have a quick detailed look at the newly introduced features and blocks.
Simple Payments Block
Simple Payments button is an easy gateway to accept credit card and debit card payments on a website for those with paid plans on WordPress.com. And with this new version, the Simple Payment Block has been introduced on both Jetpack and WordPress.com. This block lets you add a payment button to any post or page, and immediately start taking PayPal payments for physical products, digital goods, or donations.
Form Block
Want to add forms on your website? With the newly introduced Form Block in Jetpack 6.8, it is easier than ever to build a form for your visitors. You don’t even need to add any shortcodes to insert the form – just edit the block directly in the new editor. Connect with your customers and make your website more engaging by simply adding a form with a block.
Maps Block
The new Map block lets you display your store’s location on a map on your Homepage. Simply drop in the map block, add your Access Token, enter your address and you’re good to go! Adding a map is an easy-peasy task with the Map Block.
Markdown Block
Jetpack 6.8 has introduced a new markdown block. Markdown is a way to write and style posts and pages without writing any HTML. If you want a quick way to write and edit rich text without taking your hands off the keyboard, Markdown might be the right block for you.
Welcome Back Publicize
With the update, you can again connect your WordPress site to your social networks of choice and share your new posts automatically. You can find the Publicize settings after clicking “Publish” in the pre-publish sidebar.
