WordCamp Europe - Call for Host City 2024

WordCamp Europe Call for Host City 2024

Everyone might have a question about which city will host the next WordCamp Europe 2024. So, here is an opportunity for your local WordPress community to join a historic lineup of destinations!

Since 2013, every year, WordCamp Europe is organized by a team composed of two main groups: a local team and multiple global teams.

The local team is comprised of members of the host city’s WordPress community, while the global teams are built around experienced WordCamp organizers from across Europe, most of whom have participated in one or more past events.

It’s a big responsibility to host WordCamp Europe. This is why both local and global teams work as one, bringing in-depth knowledge of the local community and years of experience together.

Who can apply?

Any team who has organized one or more successful in-person WordCamps in any city in Europe in the last four years can apply. Also, any community which has been active during 2022.

How is the WCEU 2024 host city selected?

For this year, the team has tweaked the selection process to concentrate more on the local community and the city instead of deep knowledge about how to organize a successful WordCamp Europe.

The selection of the WordCamp Europe 2024 host city will be based on the overall evaluation of the application, instead of ranking different parts of it. We don’t ask your team to prepare a budget for the whole event, but estimated costs for the proposed venue(s) should be available.

Selection Committee will be the one to make the selection of the host city. Selection Committee consists of experienced WordCamp Europe organizers from past editions.

To apply, prepare a pitch deck, video, or website to convince the selection committee.

The pitch could include for example:

  • Introduction of your local WordPress community
  • Composition of the local team applying
  • Details of proposed venue(s)
  • Details of the city
  • Your ideas on creating another unforgettable WCEU
  • … or anything you want!

In addition to the pitch deck, the team will ask each team to fill out a short survey where some basic details are asked about the local community, possible, venue(s) and the city. The Pitch deck will be attached to the application in the last step.

What is the first step?

For the final step, you need to gather your strong and focused local team to send in the application. Prepare the pitch deck and venue proposals with the team.

The main goal of the WordCamp Europe team is to help all teams create a solid application. If your team is interested in hosting WordCamp Europe, email at [email protected].
