WordPress 5.3.1 Release Candidate 2

WordPress 5.3.1 Release Candidate 2, a second quick update for WordPress 5.3.1 is here. This quick update includes three crucial patches.

So far, WordPress 5.3 has been downloaded more than 11 million times since its release on November 12, 2019. Users can try this release candidate. You can report any issues to ensure that WordPress 5.3.1 fixes the reported issues.

In order to test v5.3.1 RC 2, you can use the WordPress Beta Tester plugin (you’ll want to select the “point release nightlies” option) or you can also directly download the release candidate here (zip).

The three new patches in WordPress 5.3.1 Release Candidate 2 are:

  1. #48943: comment_form() expects optional “email” field to be passed.
  2. #47069: The admin bar on the front end has reduced functionality and bugs when jQuery not being used (reopened for some improvements).
  3. #48927: Aesthetic Issues with Language Select on Install introduced in 5.3.1 RC1.
