Rahul D Sarker is a WordPress Developer & Digital Marketing Consultant who helps startups, small & medium business to solve Technical & Marketing Challenges, empowering them to focus and grow the business. Currently, handing 2 startups and working with few communities very closely. Also, he is a big foodie and self-proclaimed proud solo traveler. Rahul says he landed in WordPress because of the easiness and comfort it provides.
He was one of the amazing speakers at WordCamp Kathmandu 2019 and his speech was focused on conversion optimization for WordPress sites. He mentioned reasons as to why conversions don’t take place and what needs to be done in order to improve that. His speech was beneficial for developers, bloggers, and business owners at WCKTM2019.
During this interview, we got to know his views and opinions regarding certain things in WordPress and how one can increase revenue per visitor and grow more customers. We also asked him how WCKTM2019 is different than WordCamps in Kolkata. To which he said, “WordCamp Kathmandu is very mature as compared to WordCamp Kolkata. The community is not that big there.” He also laid out his journey on organizing a WordCamp in Kolkata.
While talking about conversion optimization, Rahul says, “We only focus on the traffic our website gets. But we never actually think what they are doing and how they are interacting with the content. Conversions can be something we want our audience to do. There are a lot of aspects in WordPress that can help you improve conversions. People are focusing on making their content SEO friendly which is good. But Google is not going to buy your products; your consumers are going to buy your product. So, focus on that and build the content for your consumers.”
He also talked about the Gutenberg implementation in WordPress. “Initially, I was not really happy with the implementation. But then I realized if it has come to the play, there might be a good reason. So, I started playing around with it and fell in love with that. It has new things that will make your tasks much easier. So, don’t hesitate if this is new. Give it a try and you’ll love it.”
