We’re very disheartened to inform you all that WordCamp Europe 2020 has been postponed due to the ongoing outbreak of Corona Virus (COVID-19) around the globe. According to the organizers, WordCamp Europe will be postponed until 2021.
International organizations like the World Health Organization and WordCamp Central have suggested communities like ours to avoid such an in-person event since the COVID-19 outbreak has not fully stopped yet.
WordCamp Europe 2020 Ticket Refunds
All paid WCEU 2020 tickets will be refunded automatically through the same payment method used to purchase the ticket. You do not need to request a refund manually. It may take up to 15 days for the refund to appear in your account, depending on your bank. Please note that if you purchased your ticket via PayPal more than 180 days ago, it may take more time to refund the cost of your ticket, but it will be handled as soon as possible.
Hotels and Flights
Please cancel your hotel and air bookings if they are refundable. For your convenience, WordCamp Central has provided this letter. It will help you explain the circumstances, which may be helpful if you have trouble receiving a refund for your flight and/or hotel without feeds.
Online Event?
The WCEU team has not announced any kind of online event to date. We will keep you updated on this.
WordCamp Asia 2020 was the first event to get canceled due to COVID-19 in the region. And now, after mindfully monitoring the current international situation, it is for our own safety that we cancel our international plans.
This is an unfortunate state as we all were so excited about WordCamp Europe. It sure is one of the biggest WordPress conferences around the globe. Nevertheless, it is a serious matter and your health stands before anything else.
Our sincere sympathies to everyone who’s affected by the virus. We hope and pray for the virus outbreak to stop and everything goes back to normal soon.
Corona is really hitting hard in WordCamp preparations. However, it’s a wise decision to be safer. We can be a part of WordCamps later as well if this epidemic ends sooner or later.
