The third release candidate – WordPress 4.9.8 Release Candidate 3 is now available for testing. The RC package was released yesterday to prepare for the official release of WordPress 4.9.8.
WordPress users are requested to try this release candidate and report any issues to ensure that WordPress 4.9.8 fixes the reported issues.
WordPress 4.9.8 Release Candidate 3 contains only one enhancement since the second release candidate last week. However, the only enhancement in this package is, in fact, an important enhancement. The RC 3 has restricted the “Try Gutenberg” callout audience.
If the Gutenberg editor plugin is either not installed or not activated, the callout will be displayed to users with the install_plugins capability. And if the Gutenberg editor is activated, the callout will be displayed to users with the edit_posts capability.
The enhancement in RC3 has brought the total number of bug fixes in WordPress 4.9.8 to 28, enhancements to 14 and blessed tasks to 3.
