The Developer Hub’s goal of having proper development docs for the primary aspects of WordPress is complete. Following about two years of development the WordPress Theme Developer Handbook release happened just a few hours ago.
Jon (Kenshino) posted the official release note on Make WordPress Documentation. The WordPress Theme Developer Handbook had been through a total of three teams before it made to the release.
“This could not have happened without a few of the initial leads and project pushers,” says Jon, thanking the team.
The WordPress Theme Developer Handbook has been released in the version 1 form. The handbook is already updated to be compatible with WordPress 4.7.
The Theme Developer Handbook is a perfect resource for those who want to learn all about WordPress themes and it’s exciting features. The handbook introduces itself as a repository for all things WordPress themes. Whether you’re new to WordPress themes, or you’re an experienced theme developer, you should be able to find the answer to many of your theme-related questions right here.
The handbook introduces itself as a repository for all things WordPress themes. Whether you’re new to WordPress themes, or you’re an experienced theme developer, you should be able to find the answer to many of your theme-related questions right here.
The handbook contains everything about WordPress themes from theme basics to releasing your own theme. Everything that you need to know to build your own theme, it’s included in the handbook. It’s not just for Developers, anyone who wants to learn the basics of WordPress themes can read the handbook as everything has been explained in a simple, clear and easy-to-understand manner.
The handbook also touches important topics such as Theme Security and Advanced Theme Topics. These things are very important but seem to be often neglected when talking about WordPress themes.
Since there is always room for improvement, the team continues to manage and improve the handbook on Trello, a web-based project management application.
Jon also thanked the editors who chimed in and worked hard after the progress of the handbook had stalled for a while.
Since the Theme Developer Handbook is created for the WordPress community by the WordPress community, anyone interested can join in to contribute to the development. To know more about getting involved, check out the docs team blog.
The number of contributors has come close to 100 people, but the list is not completed as of yet. Jon asks everyone to give their valuable feedback for better improvement using these methods.
Make sure you check out the Theme Developer Handbook and don’t forget to send feedbacks.
The handbook will sure come in handy for all WordPressers. How excited are you about the new handbook? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
